Does anyone else start thinking about the summer holidays and feel a mixture of excitement...and mild panic?

The six-week holidays can be wonderful.

More family time, Less rushing around, More opportunities to make memories together.

But for many families, summer can also bring:

✨ Bigger emotions
✨ More meltdowns and shutdowns
✨ Sleep difficulties
✨ Increased anxiety
✨ Sibling conflict
✨ Constant demands for snacks, screens and entertainment
✨ Children who seem overwhelmed, unsettled or unable to switch off
✨ Parents who are already running on empty

If you've ever found yourself wondering why everything seemed harder once school finished, you're certainly not alone.

Woman Relaxing Indoors

Summer doesn't create difficulties.

Often, it simply reveals them.

Many children spend the school year working incredibly hard to manage sensory demands, social expectations, transitions, uncertainty and emotional challenges.

When routines suddenly change and the pressure of school is removed, their nervous systems often begin to show us just how much effort they've been using.

What can look like "bad behaviour", "attention seeking", "laziness" or "defiance" is often a child communicating overwhelm in the only way their nervous system knows how.

And when parents don't understand what's happening underneath, summer can quickly become exhausting for everyone.

The Summer Slumber Party isn't another webinar.

It's not a lecture.

And it's definitely not a place for judgement or perfect parenting.

Think of it as a relaxed summer catch-up with a group of parents who simply get it.

Grab your favourite tipple.

Put your feet up.

Join me for an honest conversation about what children's behaviour might be telling us during the summer months and how we can support ourselves and our children in a way that feels realistic, practical and achievable.

During The Evening We'll Explore

  • Why summer can sometimes feel harder than expected

  • What big emotions and baffling behaviours may actually be communicating

  • How nervous systems respond to changes in routine

  • Why behaviour is often a body signal before anything else

  • Simple ways to support regulation during everyday summer challenges

  • How to reduce pressure, overwhelm and guilt for both children and parents

  • Practical ideas you can use immediately throughout the holidays

Over the last 19 years as a Sensory and Behavioural Specialist (Specialist Occupational Therapist), I have sat alongside hundreds of families navigating overwhelm, uncertainty and those moments where nothing seems to make sense.

One thing I know for certain is that children do well when they can, and parents do too.

Sometimes what we need most isn't another strategy.

It's understanding.

It's reassurance.

It's knowing we're not alone.

My hope is that you leave this evening feeling lighter, more confident and ready to head into summer with a greater understanding of both your child's nervous system and your own.

I'd love you to join us.
